A few weeks ago Max Scharping Jersey , Peyton Manning set a new NFL record for most touchdowns thrown in a career, surpassing Brett Favre. This has been quite a year for Manning, and while his new record is impressive, his 2014 is still tainted by that pesky, embarrassing loss back in February to the Seattle Seahawks. As happens in any sport when a new record is made, many people started to throw out the term "greatest of all time" when discussing Peyton Manning.Along with Peyton Manning enthusiasts, many Manning haters and Tom Brady fanatics came out of the woodwork to announce problems with Manning's career http://www.thetexansfootballauthentic.com/kahale-warring-jersey-authentic , arguing that he is the reason the Broncos choked in the Super Bowl and other such criticisms. While I like a good debate, being bludgeoned with this constant back and forth has become tedious, so right here, right now, on The Sportster, I will offer a thorough rundown of the careers of these two phenomenal athletes and determine which one is superior. Obviously my analysis will not please everyone, but I will do my best to remain partial and fair to both. The analysis will cover not just their career stats overall but also their performances in high profile games Cullen Gillaspia Jersey , the effectiveness as locker room presences and the systems in which they have played. Furthermore, their passing will be broken down, along with their rushing and scrambling abilities, with particular attention paid to whether they can avoid sacks and gain yards, as I consider this to be an under-examined aspect of Brady and Manning's games when this debate rears its ugly head.Obviously, because this is the internet, I am wrong Rock Ya-Sin Jersey , so feel free to let me know how wrong I am and how poorly my mother raised me in the comments section. Any team stats used will be from NFL.com and individual stats are from Pro-Football-Reference.com. Back in the early days of football, all the biggest star players were talented running backs, which made sense because most teams would hand the ball off about 70% of the time. The aerial attack just wasn't a huge part of the game until the early 1980's, when teams realized the potential of the deep ball. From that time on, receivers have been getting bigger, stronger, and faster every year. Guys like Jerry Rice http://www.thecoltsfootballauthentic.com/ben-banogu-jersey-authentic , Randy Moss, and Terrell Owens helped revolutionize the position and make it one of the highest paid positions on the field. Some teams have had the fortune of having multiple all-pro talents on the field at the same time like the Colts with Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne; the Cardinals with Fitz and Anquan Boldin; and Rams with Torry Holt and Issac Bruce. Notice that all three of those teams made Super Bowl appearances, showing the value of having a high powered receiving group. But not all receiving corps are treated equal in today's NFL. Some are stacked with three or four talented bodies, while others are lucky to have at least one guy crack the 1,000 yard mark. A good receiving corp will have a possession receiver who moves the chains, a deep ball threat to take the top off the defense, and a slot receiver to work the middle of the field. In this ranking Parris Campbell Jersey , it looks at the overall value of each teams receiving corps and takes into account that sometimes one guy is talented enough to make up for his teammates slack. Where does your team's receiving corp stack up heading into 2018?
The exciting parts of the NFL offseason are over now. The top tier level of free agents have all signs David Montgomery Jersey , the draft is over with and the busiest part of trade season is over. Many big names have changed teams, and there aren't that many impact players left available, on the free agent market or in the trade route. That being said, it is only May, and we're still four months away from the regular season beginning. In the coming weeks, we may see a number of big trades take place, and the remaining top free agents could find new homes any day now. Before and after pre-season gets going http://www.bearscheapstores.com/riley-ridley-jersey-cheap , there will also be some notable player cuts. Teams will have a strong idea of which veteran players are worthy of roster spots, and which ones aren't needed. There will be some big trades, a few more impact signings and some notable player cuts. It could happen tomorrow, it could happen a day before the regular season starts. The point is, expect some major NFL offseason transactions to take place over the next few months. Here are five big cuts, five major trades and five impact free agent NFL signings that could take place before the 2018 season begins. "We try to maintain a respectful distance when doing it. Just as much as (Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach) Dirk Koetter and (Bucs general manager) Jason Licht hate cutting players, we hate shooting it. But it's unfortunately part of the business. It's terrible. And it's also terrible afterwards when you [say] http://www.cowboyscheapauthenticstore.com/trysten-hill-jersey-cheap , ‘Uh, can I ask you a few questions?' But it's part of camp, it's part of the reality of the NFL. ... We work really hard to get the audience invested in these guys and to really show a well-rounded portrait of who they are." -- Matt Disinger, director of HBO's "Hard Knocks" and producer for NFL Films. For fans, the boring, linear action the NFL preseason provides only becomes interesting when big-name players and starters are either cut or demoted, especially when we actually get to see the conversation. I don't think many people shed tears when the Buccaneers cut kicker Robert Aguayo this summer when they first saw the news Connor McGovern Jersey , but the actual moment on camera may have elicited different reactions.Today, let's look at some big-name, starting NFL running backs that may be looking at a slot on the bench come Week 1 or later on this season. Unlike some of our other lists, there's no real ground rules for this list other than the running backs have to be eligible to play (no IR or PUP) and have to be under contract. In other words, someone like Reggie Bush obviously wouldn't be on this list.Ready to speculate and make sense of an ever-changing league? Let's do it.
It has begun. The tackling http://www.thebroncosfootballauthentic.com/dre_mont-jones-jersey-authentic , the hustling, the injuries, the questions. NFL training camp is here. Training camp is many people’s least favorite part of the NFL season. Pundits like us talk about it non-stop but no real information comes out except veiled statements about who is doing well and when injured players are coming back. Each team loses some players to injuries, and few find a diamond in the rough who will be a fan favorite for the upcoming year. But training camp is extremely important for players to get back in shape and for teams to know what they are working with. At the end of the offseason, teams often have unanswered questions: Which rookies can start? Will their injured star be back soon? Who will be winning positional battles? In a few short weeks teams have to answer these kinds of questions http://www.cardinalscheapstore.com/byron-murphy-jersey-cheap , ready or not. When training camp lets out, teams like to say that they answered all of the questions that they started with, but the truth is that it sometimes creates more. We’ll talk more on that when the season begins, but here is the biggest question for each NFL team now that training camps have begun. There are always a handful of blockbuster moves in any given NFL offseason, but 2019 is shaping up to be one of the most enticing in recent memory.A great deal of starting quarterbacks will surely be changing teams this offseason Dre'Mont Jones Jersey , with some clubs finding younger and cheaper options to take over. We all know guys like Joe Flacco, Eli Manning and Ryan Tannehill will be moving on from their respective teams, but which teams will land them? There's a fun race for the first overall pick in 2019, between the Oakland Raiders, Arizona Cardinals http://www.thelionsfootballauthentic.com/austin-bryant-jersey-authentic , San Francisco 49ers, Jacksonville Jaguars and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. But who will win the Nick Bosa sweepstakes, and which of those teams will get their hands on two top quarterback prospects in Drew Lock and Justin Herbert? In the trade market, we can expect a handful of players - especially ones entering the final year of their contracts - to get dealt this offseason. Will New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski accept a trade this time? If so, what will the price be? Or are the Patriots ready to give him he monster extension he's wanted for a while? There are going to be some blocksbuster trades Rashan Gary Jersey , major impact signings and big-time draft selections that promise to change the landscape of the league in 2019 and beyond. It's anybody's guess how things will play out, but it's never too early to play the predictions game. Here's a look at seven debuts, seven trades and seven releases that could go down in the 2019 offseason
A look at what’s happening around the majors today:
BIG ARMS IN THE BRONX
With slugger Giancarlo Stanton heating up at the plate Ugo Amadi Jersey , the major league-leading Yankees (49-22) go for a three-game sweep of visiting Seattle. Luis Severino (10-2, 2.09 ERA) pitches for New York against lefty James Paxton (6-1, 3.44), who is 5-0 with a 2.55 ERA since the beginning of May – a nine-start span that includes a no-hitter in Toronto. The Mariners have lost three straight for the first time since April 17-19 against the World Series champion Astros.
STRANGE TO SEE
Three-time Cy Young Award winner Max Scherzer (10-3, 2.06 ERA) tries to avoid his first three-game losing streak since August 2015 when the Nationals host lowly Baltimore. He’ll hope to get some help on offense from slumping slugger Bryce Harper, who went 0 for 4 in a rain-delayed 3-0 loss Wednesday night Dwayne Haskins Jersey , dropping his batting average to .209. Washington manager Dave Martinez said Harper has been working hard with batting coach Kevin Long. ”He’s going to hit. I know he’s going to carry us for a month or two or for whatever,” Martinez said.
DOCTOR’S APPOINTMENT
Cardinals right-hander Michael Wacha (8-2, 3.20 ERA) is scheduled for an MRI after exiting Wednesday’s start with a left oblique strain. ”Feeling a little bit better,” he said following the game. ”I’m hoping for the best.” Carlos Martinez (3-3, 2.73) pitches for St. Louis in the opener of a four-game set at Milwaukee. He is 6-4 with a 1.95 ERA against the Brewers. Slumping outfielder Ryan Braun is expected to rejoin the Brewers after the team sent him to Los Angeles on Wednesday for treatment on his achy right thumb. The six-time All-Star is hitting just .236 with eight home runs and 31 RBIs.
SEEKING HIS FIRST WIN
Giants ace Madison Bumgarner (0-2, 4.67 ERA) pitches at home against last-place San Diego David Long Jersey , which has dropped four straight. Bumgarner missed the first two months of the season with a broken pinkie. He has lost four in a row to the Padres, who counter with Tyson Ross (5-4, 3.51). Meanwhile, San Francisco right-hander Jeff Samardzija (shoulder tightness) is set to make his second rehab start with Triple-A Sacramento.
READY TO GO
White Sox outfielder Avisail Garcia (right hamstring strain) could return to the lineup against Oakland in the opener of a four-game series. Garcia was hitting .333 with two home runs and seven RBIs during a six-game rehab stint with Triple-A Charlotte. He batted .330 with 18 homers and 80 RBIs last season, making his first All-Star team.
COMING UP EMPTY
Boston will be looking for a couple of clutch hits against the Minnesota Twins in the finale of its road trip. The Red Sox were 0 for 9 with runners in scoring position Wednesday and are 2 for 22 in the first two games of the series. They stranded 18 runners in those two games and have lost four of five overall. Rick Porcello (8-3, 3.70 ERA) starts against Twins right-hander Kyle Gibson (2-4 http://www.losangelesramsteamonline.com/bobby-evans-jersey , 3.27), who has allowed only five runs over his last four starts spanning 26 2/3 innings.

Leading into 2015 the common consensus in NFL circles had the Patriots and Seahawks as red hot favorites to go back-to-back as Super Bowl combatants. Fast forward to February and all of a sudden Tom Brady and Russell Wilson will be watching the game on their couch contemplating what is to come. This is the beauty of football – regardless of past history and talent comes the pressure of expectation. Nothing is guaranteed in this game.A lot can change between seasons within the National Football League. Drafting rookies, trade deals and coaching shake ups alter the landscape drastically. It can turn an unfancied team into a playoff contender, a good team into a great team, or vice versa. One look at the Philadelphia Eagles under Chip Kellyand it’s clear to see how a handful of bad decisions can be the difference between post season football and being shown the back door.Unlike other campaigns where an elite collection of franchises had a monopoly over the league’s fortunes, the generational tide is turning. No longer is the class of Brady Greg Gaines Jersey , Peyton and Eli Manning the dominant force they once were. Time waits for no man as the contenders for 2017 and beyond are looking generally more towards quarterbacks who are younger and offer something a little bit different than what we’ve seen before. No country for old men and all that …Of course the big hitters of the 2016 playoffs will stay in the fold, change doesn’t occur overnight. But some are poised to pounce next season having laid the groundwork and biding their time in the shadows. Season 2016 leading into Super Bowl 51 is looking to be the most competitive in years and it that spirit, here are the 20 teams who could face off in 12 months from now.
Report: Brandon Fusco named Falcons’ starter at RG With only the fourth and final preseason game remaining Youth Mohamed Sanu Jersey , we expect that the Falcons will be naming the winners of some of the (admittedly few) roster battles in the very near future. One of those battles has officially been decided today, and it’s good news for those of you that wanted to see a change at right guard in 2017.Dan Quinn announced on Tuesday that Brandon Fusco—one of the Falcons few free agent signings this offseason—will be the starter at RG heading into the 2018 season. While Quinn acknowledged that incumbent starter Wes Schweitzer has been “significantly improved from last season”, the decision was made to go with the veteran Fusco mainly due to his performance from a “protection standpoint”—which, presumably, means he’s been a better option in pass protection.Fusco signed a 3-year, $12.75M contract with the Falcons in March. The veteran guard has played 8 seasons in the NFL since being drafted by the Vikings in the 6th round of the 2011 draft. He earned a second contract with Minnesota Stitched De’Vondre Campbell Jersey , but suffered some injury setbacks during his later years. Fusco most recently started all 16 games for the San Francisco 49ers in 2017, where he looked like an above-average guard in both pass protection and run blocking.Quinn also had more clarity on Schweitzer’s role with Fusco taking over at RG.Wes Schweitzer—a 6th round pick from 2016 who started all 16 games for the Falcons at RG in 2017—will still have a clear role on the team. He will be the primary back-up at guard, and has all been cross-trained at center this offseason. We saw him take snaps at center during the preseason game against the Jaguars, and he looked pretty solid. Having a seasoned starter as depth is quite valuable, especially in an era where teams are often starved for offensive line talent. At FB, it sounds as if the competition is still not over between Ricky Ortiz and Jalston Fowler. We saw Ortiz get all of the snaps with the starters against Jacksonville Youth De’Vondre Campbell Jersey , but Fowler is talented and experienced as well. It appears that evaluating the FBs will be a primary goal during Thursday’s game against the Dolphins. What are your thoughts on Fusco being named the starter? Do you think Schweitzer has a long-term future with this team as either a guard or center? Who ends up winning the FB battle? Of the eight cities to host Alliance of American Football franchises, one has yet to host a game. That changes today. The Atlanta Legends, which will play their games at the reconfigured baseball facility previously known as Turner Field (Georgia State University now plays its football games there), started the year with a pair of road games, losing in Orlando and in San Diego. The 2-0 Birmingham Iron will come to town for the first of five Atlanta home games. The powers-that-be could be very nervous about how many people will show up. The Arizona Hotshots, which play not far from the home of the Arizona Cardinals Stitched Brian Poole Jersey , had an embarrassingly low turnout in Week One. The AAF placed its first eight franchises in only two NFL cities, and Atlanta is the other. The game kicks off without a kickoff at 4:00 p.m. ET on CBS Sports Network. Week Three concludes with the 1-1 San Antonio Commanders facing the 1-1 Fleet in San Diego at 8:00 p.m. ET on NFL Network. It’s a rematch of a game played Week One in the Alamodome. And that’s about all I currently know about either team. But, frankly, if tonight’s TV viewing options are the American Alliance or the Academy Awards, I’ll gladly stick to football.
Going up against the NFL's top-ranked defense Youth Ty Montgomery Jersey , Ben Roethlisberger showed his versatility, grit and ability to bounce back from injury. He also proved his own theory: The only unit capable of stopping the Pittsburgh offense is, well, the Pittsburgh offense.Roethlisberger threw two touchdown passes, ran for a score and put up an unexpected left-footed punt to help the Steelers beat the Baltimore Ravens 23-16 Sunday.James Conner rushed for 107 yards and caught a TD pass for the Steelers (5-2-1), who have won four straight since falling to the Ravens at home on Sept. 30.Pittsburgh is averaging 31 points a game during its winning streak. Against Baltimore, the Steelers rolled up 395 yards, converted 10 of 16 third-down plays and held the ball for 36陆 minutes."We feel that we can do what we want to do," Roethlisberger said. "We've got roadblocks, which are great defenses on other teams, trying to stop us, but we've always said 鈥?and no disrespect to other teams 鈥?they don't stop us, we stop ourselves."That didn't happen Sunday. Pittsburgh did not commit a turnover, and Roethlisberger went 28 for 47 for 270 yards. His 1-yard run made it 20-6 in the third quarter, and the 36-year-old showed his determination by missing only one play after being flattened during a sprint from the pocket with just over 13 minutes left."Ben just got the wind knocked out of him," coach Mike Tomlin said. The Ravens (4-5) scored only one touchdown in their third straight defeat Stitched Mark Ingram Jersey , managing two field goals in the first half while falling behind 14-6. Baltimore had converted 72.4 percent of its red zone opportunities into TDs 鈥?the fourth-best percentage in the NFL 鈥?but on this day a 1-for-4 performance didn't cut it."To hold those guys to field goals in the first half when they were down there was significant," Tomlin said.Pittsburgh opened the second half with a drive that lasted nearly seven minutes and ended with a 1-yard plunge by Roethlisberger. The conversion sailed wide to the right, keeping the score at 20-6.Down by two touchdowns and facing a potential two-game deficit in the AFC North, the Ravens reacted. Joe Flacco completed six passes in a 75-yard drive that ended with a 1-yard touchdown run by Alex Collins .The defense followed by forcing the game's first three-and-out, but the Baltimore offense failed to sustain the momentum. After the Ravens punted. Roethlisberger was collared from behind by Za'Darius Smith and remained on the ground for several minutes. Joshua Dobbs came in, completed a 22-yard pass to JuJu Smith-Schuster, then gave way to Roethlisberger."That was a huge play," Roethlisberger said of Dobbs' first-down toss. The drive led to a field goal for a 10-point cushion with 8:26 remaining.Baltimore got another field goal to get within a touchdown with 5:23 to go, but never threatened thereafter. It was not at all the way the Ravens wanted to enter their long-awaited bye week."We'll go into our bye week trying to get rested up, trying to get healthy," coach John Harbaugh said. "We'll try to come out swinging the last seven games and find a way to make the playoffs."In the first half, Roethlisberger threw 29 passes and showed his kicking prowess as Pittsburgh took control. With the Steelers facing a fourth down from the Baltimore 38, Roethlisberger lined up in shotgun formation and popped up a 27-yard punt 鈥?his seventh career kick.Eric Weddle drifted back to catch the kick and took it back 18 yards, perhaps the only disappointing aspect of Big Ben's day."It would have been good if Weddle didn't go back and catch it," Roethlisberger lamented. "It would have been inside the 5, for sure."The Ravens then settled for a field goal one play after Flacco failed to see wide-open Lamar Jackson on the right side near the end zone. Jackson Youth Mark Ingram Jersey , a rookie quarterback who's been used in a variety of ways, went in motion on the play and was left uncovered.Roethlisberger put Pittsburgh ahead with a 7-yard touchdown pass to Conner, and the Steelers made it 14-3 on a 6-yard TD catch by Antonio Brown.INJURIESSteelers: None reported.Ravens: Starting offensive tackles Ronnie Stanley (ankle) and James Hurst (back) were on the inactive list. ... CB Tavon Young hurt his right ankle in the fourth quarter and did not return.TRIBUTE TO SYNAGOGUE VICTIMSRoethlisberger wore cleats emblazoned with a Star of David in response to the late-October shooting at Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh. The Star of David was in yellow and served as the upper part of the Steelers logo. There were also the words, "Stronger Than Hate" on each shoe.Roethlisberger and his wife are friends of Michele Rosenthal, a former team employee. Two of Rosenthal's brothers were among the 11 killed in the attack.MR. TOUCHDOWNSConner has 10 touchdowns , most by a Steelers player through eight games since 1950. Brown has nine TD catches, a team record through eight games.UP NEXTSteelers: Host Carolina on Thursday night.Ravens: Bye, followed by home game vs Cincinnati on Nov. 18. There are only three guarantees in life: death, taxes, and Lamar Jackson gashing defenses every week. Well, not really, but that’s what it’s beginning to feel like. The rookie got it done on the ground and through the air this week to lead Baltimore to their second-straight victory, this time over the listless Oakland Raiders. It was a great team win and Lamar wasn’t the only first year guy to get involved in the action; let’s take a look at the rookie performances for the Ravens in week 12:Deja Vu all over againPhoto by Patrick Smith/Getty ImagesFor the second week in a row, it was the two guys in the backfield leading the way for Baltimore. We already touched on Lamar who threw it for 178 yards and a touchdown as well as two interceptions off tipped balls from throws into right coverage.Jackson still has a lot of room to grow as a passer, but the potential to do so certainly appears to be there, especially considering where he was in preseason. He also made his hay on the ground again after a close to the vest first half gave way to the first rounder busting a few big runs in the second Stitched Earl Thomas Jersey , including a touchdown run and a long game clincher down the sideline (he finished with 73 total rushing yards). If this week was a close facsimile to Jackson’s debut, Gus Edwards’ performance was an exact replica. The “Bus” had another huge afternoon, rushing for 118 yards and looking like every bit the every down back that Baltimore has been lacking this season. The conversation surrounding who should start at quarterback moving forward should be a hot one, but there isn’t even an argument at RB anymore. Edwards should be the guy down the stretch.Tight ends get loosePhoto by Rob Carr/Getty ImagesMark Andrews and Hayden Hurst each impacted this game in their own way, with both of them making plays in the same game for what feels like the first time all season. Andrews led the team in receiving yards with the 74 he picked up on a long shot down the sideline that he nearly housed, and Hurst chipped in 3catches for 25 yards while making a key play on third down to keep Baltimore’s offense moving.Hopefully we see more of this from these two as Baltimore need all the help they can get building the offense around Jackson (assuming he remains the starter). Regardless, today was a good look at what these two can do for him in the future.Odds and endsPhoto by Mark Brown/Getty ImagesOutside of the first four guys, the rest of the rookie class was relatively quiet. Orlando Brown Jr. got the nod at right tackle again, and while he played solid, he had some killer penalties that he’ll need to clean up moving forward. The Bama boys, Anthony Averett and Bradley Bozeman, got a little bit of run in this one but nothing to write home about could be said of each. All in all, it was a very solid day for the rookie class as we may have gotten a look at the future of several positions for the Ravens in what was another important victory heading into the home stretch.
Perhaps the only upside to last Thursday’s blow out loss to the Steelers is that it afforded us little material upon which to base this column. The Panthers Stitched Shaq Thompson Jersey , for better or worse, had only one opportunity to make an aggressively conservative decision. Their failure was mostly on the players. We’d be auditioning for Cirque du Soleil if we could contort ourselves enough to blame Ron Rivera and his staff for this one.The Panthers have been all over the place this season, but they have been trending towards being a more aggressive and more confident team. Half of the space in this column has been spent praising Ron Rivera for not punting on his opponent’s side of the field. The other half has been lamenting the early-season penchant for running the ball into loaded boxes or not trying to score before half time. Counting our praise for Rivera as a win and our criticism as a loss week to week, you’d come up with a similar record as the Panthers. They are 5-3 in the Turtle, and that will be six wins after today. The records aren’t identical, however. We have praised them after losses and damned them after wins. Today is going to be another praise worthy loss for one reason: we aren’t talking at all about the fourth down the Panthers converted on their opening touchdown drive.I’ll forgive everyone for forgetting the opening drive given what came immediately after. I like to remember it, though, because it was a magical time. The Panthers opened with more confidence and more success than I can remember seeing in years. They didn’t see a third down until they were knocking on the door of the red zone. It was a third and nine from the 30 yard line. Cam Newton scrambled for eight yards to set up fourth and one from the 22.All seven Panthers teams that Rivera has coached in the past would be expected to kick the field goal and walk away from their opening drive with points. I don’t know if he is feeling better about his team or if Norv Turner has actually had that much influence. Either way, I like it. Christian McCaffrey got two yards on fourth and one and scored a touchdown on the very next play. The Steelers game obviously didn’t hinge on the Panthers ability to convert that fourth down chance. It didn’t come down to the four point difference between that touchdown and the field goal everybody else expected them to kick. But we’ve all watched the games that did come down to that difference. Rivera’s lack of hesitation to go for it Youth James Bradberry Jersey , to go for the win, is the kind of coaching I’ve been calling for his entire career. The Panthers still have a lot of questions to answer about their current personnel and how suited they are for this or any NFL team after they got exposed on Thursday. As a fan, I’m head-in-the-sand hoping that the offensive line and the defensive secondary just picked the same day to have a historically bad day. I’m not, for the first time in a long time, worried about the coaching staff. You can still expect to hear me calling for Ron’s job if he starts next year with the same timid approach that he kicked off this year as it puts the Panthers dangerously close to a losing record every year, but he’s not that guy right now. The guy who coached the Panthers in Pittsburgh is a guy who can win games. At the very least, he’s a guy who won’t make me angry about the way he loses them. The Panthers have a new team president — a move that could mean professional soccer is next on the horizon for the Carolinas.Carolina owner David Tepper hired Tom Glick to run the Panthers' day-to-day operations. Glick becomes the team's first president since Danny Morrison resigned unexpectedly in February 2017.Tepper has indicated on multiple occasions he's interested in bringing a Major League Soccer team to Charlotte since purchasing the Panthers for $2.2 billion from founder Jerry Richardson in July. While Glick has no experience with American football, he has more than 25 years of experience working in soccer and other sports.Glick has spent the past six years working with developing the City Football Group (CFG), a multi-national soccer organization that includes six clubs including current English Premier League champion Manchester City FC. The Group also owns New York City FC of Major League Soccer. As chief commercial officer of CFG Stitched James Bradberry Jersey , Glick oversaw partnership sales and activation, marketing, content production and distribution, retail and licensing, and fan relationship management for all of CFG's clubs."We are thrilled to have Tom join the Panthers family," Tepper said in a statement. "He has tremendous experience in professional sports, successfully fostering fan engagement in major cities globally. I know that his record, expertise and drive will be major assets as we look to win on the field and in the community."For now, Glick's focus will be on the Panthers."David has a clear and exciting vision for the team Youth Vernon Butler Jersey , and I can see and feel the buzz and anticipation for this new era of Panthers football," Glick said in a statement. "I'm ready to get started and will give everything to help the team deliver for our fans, players, staff, partners and our communities throughout North and South Carolina."Glick will be expected to handle stadium upgrades or possibly the construction for a new stadium for the Panthers if Tepper decides to build one.Charlotte is home to the Panthers, the NBA's Charlotte Hornets — which are owned by Michael Jordan — and minor league baseball and hockey teams. There have been a few business groups who've tried unsuccessfully to bring a Major League Soccer team to the Carolinas.During his tenure, CFG underwent several major infrastructure developments with Etihad Stadium in Manchester being expanded with more seating, major improvements in premium seating and wider fan amenities. Manchester City opened a new training facility in 2015 called the City Football Academy, built on 80 acres of land adjacent to the stadium. The group also completed two further training ground developments in New York and Melbourne Stitched Vernon Butler Jersey , Australia.Glick moved to New York in 2015 for 15 months to help launch New York City FC in the role of president. After completing the launch, he returned to the United Kingdom to continue to drive CFG's global expansion. He's also worked with the organization's business development in China.Glick started his career in baseball, serving as senior vice president of sales and marketing for the Sacramento River Cats, a Triple-A baseball team. The River Cats led all of minor league baseball in attendance and revenue during his five seasons and became the minor league's top seller of merchandise over that same period. He's also served as the business manager of the Peoria Rivermen hockey club.Glick joined the NBA in 2004 as vice president, marketing and team business development at the league headquarters in New York and later worked as the chief marketing officer for the New Jersey Nets.
Smith is a likely day-three or undrafted prospect with great athletic ability."Through early Monday afternoon David Bakhtiari Jersey White , the Green Bay Packers had been connected to just four NFL Draft prospects who had reportedly scheduled pre-draft visits with the team. All four of those players are seen as day-one or day-two prospects, continuing general manager Brian Gutekunst’s trend of inviting several potential early-round picks to the team facilities. However, Monday afternoon also brought news of the first late-round or potentially-undrafted player who will be in Green Bay for a visit. That player is Boston College wide receiver Jeff Smith, who likely showed up on the Packers’ radar thanks to an impressive Pro Day performance a few weeks ago. Greg Auman of The Athletic first reported the news.Smith, a former quarterback recruit from California, switched to receiver after his freshman year. He played a multifacted role in the Eagles’ offense over the next three years, picking up at least 296 receiving yards and more than 100 rushing yards in each of his final three seasons. However, he never exceeded 30 receptions or 400 yards through the air in any one campaign. As a result, Smith’s projection to the NFL is largely due to his skill set and athleticism rather than his college production. On that note, however, Smith’s Pro Day opened some eyes, as the 6-foot, 191-pound receiver was timed around 4.35 seconds in the 40-yard dash with a 6.87-second time in the 3-cone drill and a 4.06-second time in the short shuttle (h/t to Gil Brandt for the numbers). Those results put him well inside the typical numbers for a Packers receiver draft pick.Smith’s work at BC makes him appear to be an intriguing option as a slot receiver in particular. Many of Smith’s carries came on jet sweeps, a play that the Packers seem likely to implement more under head coach Matt LaFleur. Take a look at this brief highlight package of the dynamic receiver:If the Packers end up eschewing the receiver position on the first two days of the 2019 NFL Draft for other positions, don’t be surprised if Smith ends up hearing his name called to come to Green Bay late on April 27th. When the Packers looked up at the scoreboard with the seconds ticking down at the end of the first half, it showed Lions 24 Packers 0. Yet Mike McCarthy’s team out-gained the Lions 201-160 http://www.packerslockerroom.com/authentic-aaron-jones-jersey , ran more plays, were more efficient, and had the ball longer. Three turnovers, including two sloppy fumbles from Aaron Rodgers turned into 17 Lions points and three Mason Crosby misses were the difference in a game that quickly turned into a Murphy’s Law game. Even once the offense started to find its feet in the second half, the deficit overwhelmed them and the defense needed just one or two more stops than it ultimately managed. In the end, a 31-23 loss hung on the turnovers and special teams problems on a day that is a microcosm for the Packers season to this point: penalties and bad execution prevents a talented team from reaching its potential. A penalty took a touchdown off the board on the Lions opening drive, only to see Detroit regain the ball on a dubious call that Kevin King touched the ball on a punt return, setting up the Lions for a one-yard touchdown. But Aaron Rodgers and the Packers, down two of their top three receivers, responded. A DPI call and 17-yard dig route to Equanimeous St. Brown offered Green Bay some momentum, but the drive stalled, leading to a Crosby field goal attempt. Miss. This was the theme of Crosby’s day. Four plays later, the Lions found the end zone again after Josh Jackson misplayed a sideline throw to Kenny Golladay that become a 60-yard catch and run instead of what looked like a possible interception. On the ensuing possession, Rodgers, who looked off most of the first half, lazily rolled right andhad the ball stripped from behind. Luckily for Green Bay Bart Starr Jersey White , the Lions managed just a field goal, but the deficit was already 17-0 and nothing that could go right for this team had gone right. Mike Pettine got the defense going after that field goal, but the offense didn’t follow suit. Rodgers and the offense missed two more field goals, points that could have at least made the game interesting. And after the second straight punt for the Lions, the offense got the ball back with 1:30 left and plenty of time to go put points on the board. Another fumble from Rodgers led to a Lions touchdown and the game appeared over at that point. But McCarthy handed the game over to Rodgers in the second half and the two-time MVP found his form. On the first drive, Rodgers looked more decisive and more accurate on an 11-play 75-yard touchdown drive. This was the drive QB1 had been asking for. Multiple big plays to Adams and Graham including a key fourth down propelled the Packers first successful scoring drives and the two-point conversion cut the deficit to 24-8. A borderline taunting call on rookie cornerback Tony Brown extended a Lions drive to set up a Matt Prater field goal, but there must have been a draft at Ford Field Sunday because Prater shanked the kick. Rodgers got rolling again with quick passes and found rookie Marqueze Valdes-Scantling on a handful of throws to the middle of the field. On a day when quarterback and receiver were often not on the same page, QB1 seemed to build something with MVS, who had his second touchdown of the day overturned despite a great play. Rodgers found Lance Kendricks for the one-yard score immediately following the review, but the two-point conversion failed, making the game 24-14. That third-quarter spirt helped the aesthetics of the game, but the Lions marched the ball right back down the Packers’ throats, extending the lead to 31-14 and although the game wasn’t totally out of reach, it sure felt that way. Another successful drive from the Packers offense featured better balance, with solid running from Jamaal Williams and big plays from Adams and EQ, ending in a beautiful out route from Adams on Darius Slay for the touchdown. But Mason Crosby missed the PAT Corey Linsley Jersey , to make him a -10 in a game the Packers trailed by 11 at the time. Ultimately, the Packers offense couldn’t get those critical plays when they needed them on offense or defense. A crucial possession after a Lions punt with under five minutes left ended in a 56-yard Mason Crosby missed field goal, but was set up by poor execution and penalties. The kick would have made it an eight point game, but a 56-yard field goal try isn’t what any good offense should want. In the end, the Packers outgained the Lions 521-265, out-possessed the ball, out-rushed them and out-threw them. Green Bay was the more efficient offense on a per-play basis, more first downs and more sacks. But 11 penalties for 107 yards and three turnovers, to go along with the special teams mistakes reveal a team playing too much undisciplined football. Given the slow starts the Packers have endured over the last few years, it’s fair to believe this team can right the ship and move forward. They were, after all, without Randall Cobb and Geronimo Allison. Rodgers still clearly isn’t right physically and didn’t have any reps to get on the same page with these rookie receivers. Once he found some rhythm with them in the second half, the offense got into gear. Rodgers finished with 442 yards and three touchdowns, the most yards ever in a regular season loss. Valdes-Scantling caught seven balls for 68 yards and a score, while fellow rookie St. Brown posted three catches for 89 yards. And despite facing All-Pro Darius Slay, Adams put up a monster nine-catch 140-yard day with a score of his own. This was the offense Rodgers was looking for Kenny Clark Jersey White , but again they settled for field goals (they missed) too often. If this was a Murphy’s Law game, the blame for these slows starts has to fall in the lap of head coach Mike McCarthy and there’s a Murphy whose word is now law in Green Bay. The Packers fell behind 10-0 to the Bears, 14-0 to Washington and 24-0 to the Lions thanks to an offense that looks outdated in the face of tremendous innovation around the league. They’re running a 2011 offense in a 2018 league, and in NFL years, that’s about 20 years behind. Slow starts, both in seasons and in games, have plagued this team going back to 2015 and if not for the Run The Table stretch in 2016, the questions about McCarthy’s job status may have been much louder much sooner. This type of effort, preparation and creativity (or lack thereof) simply isn’t acceptable for a team expecting to compete for a championship every year. If they don’t fix it in a hurry, the questions about McCarthy’s relationship with Rodgers will gave way to potential replacements, talk of Lincoln Riley and John DeFelippo. We’ve seen this team start slowly and wind up making a deep playoff run. This Packers team can still do that. After an offseason of building the deepest, most talented team in several years, there are no longer any excuses not to for McCarthy. As the weather turns colder, his seat will only grow warmer if this team doesn’t start looking championship caliber in a hurry.

ESTShareTweetShareShareWhat if Bruce Arians doesn’t fix the Buccaneers?Kim Klement-USA TODAY SportsScary thought, I know. But in all honesty... what happens if Bruce Arians isn’t able to turn around this team and right the ship? The Tampa Bay Buccaneers job was an interesting one if nothing else simply due to the terms of the position available. The general manager, Jason Licht, needs a fast turnaround. The owners for that matter, need a fast turnaround. Jason Licht needed an offensive minded coach to utilize the talent already here and build a scheme that Jameis Winston can succeed in. Add to it all that the fans are not going to continue to wait around for this team to figure it’s stuff out, these aren’t Browns fans after all. So the question at hand is simple, what happens if Bruce Arians can’t turn things around? Let’s take a quick look at what he needs to do to make magic happen in Tampa Bay. Scheme. All things considered, Bruce Arians scheme is a big factor as to why Jason Licht singled him out of the pack of head coaching candidates. Arians pushes the ball down the field and with the offensive weapons at receiver and tight end, this football should be able to do it. Along with scheme comes the fact that the head coach is having to rely on Jameis Winston who has struggled a bit with injuries, suspension and you know... turnovers. If Bruce Arians offense fails him, there’s a good chance the quarterback will hold a lions share of the blame. Speaking of scheme, Arians will have to prove to be a dynamite schemer given the voids at left tackle and right guard that face the team immediately. Running back isn’t all that shiny either and with a limited amount of money to spend, things won’t be easy to “reload” all that fast. Personnel. We’ve heard it non stop as an excuse for past coaching regimes and it won’t be any different early on for Bruce Arians. This team lacks talent both at starting positions and in the form of depth. With two offensive line positions needing a body and an upgrade at running back potentially being a priority... it’s scary to think that the same team may need upgrades at corner and on the interior and exterior pass rush wise. With the team strapped for money and rumors of Gerald McCoy’s days being numbered, freeing up space with his release ultimately opens up yet another hole to fill. If the team becomes a more predominantly odd numbered front scheme wise then there is reason to believe that edge rushers will also be of the utmost importance to add this off-season. Let’s not forget that the defensive backfield is suspect at best and will again rely on a very young group of corners and safeties to shoulder the load. Vernon Hargreaves III and Carlton Davis should surely benefit from an attacking defense such as the one Todd Bowles likes to run, but whose to know how Hargreaves III will bounce back, if at all, after a lost season due to injuries and poor coaching for his entire NFL career. Throw in the fact that the team still doesn’t have a solid kicking game from it’s punter or place kicker and the number of bodies that Licht and Arians are tasked with filling becomes quite scary for a fast turnaround that’s expected by fans and was already forecast by Arians. So what happens if Bruce Arians and his staff can’t turn this thing around and turn it around quick? The whole ship sinks. That’s what. The roster will be in shambles, the team will be looking for a new quarterback because if one thing is for sure it’s that Jameis Winston’s future, Arians future and Jason Lichts future’s are all interlocked for good now. If Bruce Arians doesn’t fix the Buccaneers then the team will continue to lose fans and be a seller dweller in the NFC South and NFL all together. If Bruce Arians doesn’t fix the Buccaneers it means his legacy and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Legacy will forever holds stains that never needed to be fostered. Tampa Bay had a chance to wipe clean the Jameis Winston era, the Dirk Koetter era and/or the Jason Licht era and they chose to stand by Jameis Winston and Jason Licht.Bruce Arians affection for Winston won him the job, it won him the hearts of many fans that want to believe. It’s all on his shoulders now to help groom Jameis and this entire roster of players. It’s up to Arians, Bowles, Byron Leftwhich and Jason Licht to get this ship sailing in the right direction. But what if its again all for not? What if.

The 49ers will be without starting cornerback Richard Sherman, and likely will be without starting strong safety Jaquiski Tartt. Jimmie Ward and Ahkello Witherspoon will start at cornerback, and Antone Exum would likely start at strong safety.Running back Matt Breida is questionable after some ups and downs in practice. He injured his knee against the Chiefs in Week 3, and went from limited to full to limited in practice. Bosa has yet to play this season, and Barksdale injured his knee in Week 1, and has not played since. Keenan Allen is the name to watch on Sunday. Both players are incredibly talented. It’s tough to have a wrong answer there. What happens if John Lynch gets an offer he can’t refuse? Then what? Well, he will be faced with a pool of players that we are not considering. In the event that this happens http://www.49erslockerroom.com/authentic-garrett-celek-jersey , here are two players that the Niners should avoid on each side of the ball if they trade back.WR D.K. Metcalf-Ole MissMetcalf has the highest ceiling of any wide receiver to come out of the draft in recent memory. The problem is the former Rebel is far from a finished product. Let’s say the 49ers stay in the top 15. Metcalf is widely regarded as the number one receiver in the draft. That does not mean he warrants a top 15 selection. Here are his three biggest drawbacks to me.Linear athleteRoute runningRoute treeI want to make this clear: Metcalf is good. I also want to make this clear: He is not Julio, Calvin, or any of the other greats thats came out. Those guys were insane players early on in their college careers. There’s a production argument with Metcalf. That can go a couple of different ways. His shuttle times were concerning. Not just because they were awful, but because they show up when you watch him play. Metcalf ran a 7.38 3-cone and a 4.5 short shuttle. For reference, Solomon Thomas ran a 6.95 3-cone. Deforest Buckner ran a short shuttle of 4.47. They do not play wide receiver. Metcalf is such an explosive athlete that he is able to create separation at the line of scrimmage. I’ve seen many point out the first play of Alabama, where he scored on a long touchdown. Context is key. The corner he beat was benched after that play. That same corner gave up 5 touchdowns all year, gave up 61% of passes his way, for a passer rating of 105 when targeted. He wasn’t very good. After that Metcalf disappeared. In 2017, Metcalf faced two quality corners from Bama and struggled. The same can be said this year against LSU’s Greedy Williams. Metcalf just couldn’t shake loose. You see that he is a linear athlete when he has to stop and start, or break down to change directions. He’s a big guy. That’s not too surprising. It is concerning, though. The last thing on Metcalf is what he was asked to do. Metcalf had zero catches in the slot. He lined up about 80% on the left side of the formation, seemingly. That might not seem like an issue, but previous players have had difficulty overcoming this. Former first round pick and now Arizona Cardinals WR Kevin White was like that coming out of West Virginia. When you consistently practice releasing only one way, or routes from one side, there’s a learning curve. With Metcalf, it was a deep route or a slant, with a curl route mixed in here and there. Against Williams and LSU, that was a perfect example of what the NFL will be like. You’re not going to be able to just run by everyone and score. Will there be opportunities to do so? Of course. They will be few and far between if Metcalf doesn’t add a little nuance to his route running. If you watch him run underneath routes, like a curl, there’s an extra hop in there. That’s where the shuttle drills show up. For this, and a double digit drop rate, I’d pass early in the first round. Good? Yes. I would only take a receiver in the first round if I felt like there were very few questions. This isn’t the case. Add in who is calling plays for the 49ers and no thanks.LB Josh Allen-KentuckyI am higher on Metcalf as a player than Allen, so Fred Warner Jersey , brace yourself. You never root against a kid, but this has bust written all over it. That’s not to say he doesn’t have value. Allen absolutely does. If you can get to the quarterback and get the offense off of the field, you can play in the NFL. Allen can do that. Here are my three biggest issues with Allen.Counter moveStrength at the point of attackInconsistencyAllen is fast, but he’s not explosive. Explosive players jar your helmet back when they get their hands on you. That’s not the case with Allen. With the 49ers, Allen would play on the strong side of the formation, opposite of Dee Ford. He is plenty quick enough to play on the line of scrimmage, as he will out athlete tackles and tight ends against the run. He can also win with speed around the edge. The issue is when that athleticism doesn’t work.Allen’s lack of counter moves are concerning. That’s why he’s a notch below the Bosa, Williams, and Brian Burns of this class. Too often during games you’ll see Allen get stuck rushing the passer. That’s generally the case when you don’t have a plan. I like judging guys when they go against top competition. He made Florida’s right tackle Jawaan Taylor look like peak Joe Staley. There wasn’t an answer for Taylor, who is a pretty good athlete himself.Because Allen will likely be playing on the line of scrimmage in this defense, you have to be concerned with his ability to set the edge or hold his ground at the point of attack. Again, athleticism will only get you so far if you are not refined in the NFL. You saw Taylor get give up the edge against the run, or get destroyed against double teams. These weren’t just a play here or there. It was consistent.Speaking of consistent, Allen lacks that. There are too many inconsistencies in Allen’s game for me to say he’s worthy of a top pick. The “dog” in him is inconsistent. Perhaps that’s him being unsure of what he’s doing. Whether that be dropping into coverage, or looping around on a stunt. There were too many plays where I felt like Allen didn’t finish the play. Let’s say there are 10 plays. On three of those, it’ll be a short yardage play and he will blow it up and look like a sure fire top pick. On the other seven he comes off as lackadaisical. I can’t co-sign that.Allen seems at his best when he can run and chase. He’s more linebacker than pure pass rusher. That’s not what you take in the top 15. Not unrefined pass rushers. There’s an argument to be made in his favor that on the Niners he’ll be the third rusher. That does have significance. With there likely to be better pass rushers available, or players in general, there’s no need to reach on Allen. Because of that, I’d be out on him.Is there a player that you want to avoid in the first round if the 49ers trade down?

J. Hockenson and Noah Fant were both drafted in the first twenty picks during the first-round of the NFL Draft. But those guys really owe George Kittle big time for their first-round salaries. Nobody was thinking about Iowa TEs two years ago.Sure, there have been several Iowa tight ends drafted over the years, and Dallas Clark was a very good one for 11 years. But he’s really the only big success in this century. Scott Chandler took years to get on a roster before having four solid years with the Bills. Brandon Myers had two good years (and six weak ones). Tony Moeaki faded fast, C.J. Fiederowicz had one good year, and Tony Jackson never even saw the field. So there is a reason that John Lynch was able to sneak off with Kittle for just a fifth round pick. Sure, his injury helped. There’s also the fact that Iowa never throws the ball, so Kittle’s tape was mostly just run plays. He was seen as blocking TE, a position not valued much in the league.Kittle rewrote the whole concept of tight end. Forget blocking tight ends and move tight ends; you need to be both. As wide receivers get taller, move tight ends who can’t block are just slow receivers. Also: Kittle isn’t slow. So when both of his successors had strong seasons this year, NFL scouts were ready to pounce. Great for Hockenson and Fant, but not much use to Kittle, who’s still playing on a 5th round rookie contract. He’ll make $720,000 next year. Based on last year’s deals, Fant should make more than $2 million, and Hockenson twice that. And there’s almost no chance they’ll be as successful as Kittle. They owe him big time.Jimmie Ward is late addition to 49ers injury report The San Francisco 49ers released their Week 5 final injury report, and there is a notable Friday addition. Cornerback Jimmie Ward suffered a hamstring injury late in the week and is now listed as questionable for Sunday. This is a big addition to the report given the uncertain status of cornerback Richard Sherman heading into the weekend. He was a DNP on Wednesday, but got in limited work on Thursday and Friday, and is listed as questionable for Sunday. The plan heading into the week seemed to be that he would miss the week, but he’s been getting at it for Sunday’s game. I would not be surprised if he sits out, but it might come down to how he looks in pre-game warmups. The secondary will be a bit healthier otherwise. Adrian Colbert and Jaquiski Tartt were both full participants all week Y.A. Tittle Jersey , and did not show up on the final injury report. They will be at the two safety positions, with some combination of Richard Sherman, Jimmie Ward, Ahkello Witherspoon, and Greg Mabin playing the outside corner positions. The best news of the day was Joe Staley, Mike McGlinchey, and Weston Richburg were all full participants in practice. They are listed as questionable, but if they feel good Sunday morning, it’s hard to see any of them sitting.49ers injury reportOut: WR Dante Pettis (knee)Questionable: RB Matt Breida (shoulder), WR Marquise Goodwin (hamstring, quadricep), T Mike McGlinchey (knee), C Weston Richburg (knee), CB Richard Sherman (calf), T Joe Staley (knee), CB Jimmie Ward (hamstring)Cardinals injury reportQuestionable: CB Bene’ Benwikere (neck), WR Larry Fitzgerald (hamstring, back), DE Markus Golden (knee), DT Robert Nkemdiche (foot), DT Corey Peters (elbow), CB Jamar Taylor (back, hamstring), T John Wetzel (shoulder)
For the first and only time in the 2018 NFL season http://www.seahawkslockerroom.com/authentic-tyler-lockett-jersey , the Seattle Seahawks (8-6) are on Sunday Night Football, looking to clinch a playoff spot against the #1 team in the AFC, the Kansas City Chiefs (11-3). Results from Saturday night put the Chiefs in position to win the AFC West and lock up a first-round bye with a win at Seattle.Last week, the Seahawks had their chance to clinch a wild card berth, only to lose to the San Francisco 49ers in a sloppy, rainy, poorly officiated game down in Santa Clara. They’re still in good position to make the playoffs even with a loss to Kansas City, but thanks to Washington’s defeat against the Tennessee Titans, we know that a win guarantees the Seahawks a postseason trip. Patrick Mahomes is the presumptive league MVP, and it’ll be a huge test for the Seahawks defense that has struggled over the second-half of the season. On the plus side, it looks like KJ Wright will return to his role as starting linebacker after missing more time with a knee injury, so that’s a major boost.Seattle’s offense wasn’t particularly great against the 49ers, and both right guard DJ Fluker and right tackle Germain Ifedi may not play due to respective injuries http://www.seahawkslockerroom.com/authentic-rashaad-penny-jersey , which is bad news considering Kansas City’s pass rush. Beyond that, though? The Chiefs defense is among the league’s worst, so we could see a big night for Russell Wilson, Chris Carson, Doug Baldwin, and others. It figures to be a very entertaining matchup and a potential shootout that’s reminiscent of last year’s classic with the Houston Texans. Here are all the details you need on this massive primetime showdown, including broadcast information, live streaming options, radio commentary, television coverage, and more:TV ScheduleDate: Sunday, December 23rd, 2018Time: 8:20 PM ET/5:20 PM PTChannel: NBCAnnouncers: Al Michaels and Cris Collinsworth (sideline reporter: Michele Tafoya)Location: CenturyLink Field | Seattle Womens Ed Dickson Jersey , WashingtonRadio: 710 ESPN Seattle/97.3 KIRO FM (click here for additional TV and radio affiliates outside of the Seattle area)Radio Announcers: Steve Raible, Dave Wyman (Reporters: Jen Mueller and John Clayton) Online Streaming: NFL Game Pass (Free 7-Day Trial) | Sling TV | YoutubeTV | PlayStation Vue | Sunday Night Football on NBC live streamCurrent 53-man roster: Click hereOpponent Blog: Arrowhead PrideSeahawks regular season schedule 2018September9/9: L 27-24 at Denver Broncos 9/17: L 24-17 at Chicago Bears 9/23: W 24-13 vs. Dallas Cowboys9/30: W 20-17 at Arizona CardinalsOctober10/7: L 33-31 Los Angeles Rams 10/14: W 27-3 “at” Oakland Raiders in London 10/21: BYE10/28: W 28-14 at Detroit Lions November11/4: L 25-17 vs. Los Angeles Chargers 11/11: L 36-31 at Los Angeles Rams 11/15 (Thu): W 27-24 vs. Green Bay Packers 11/25: W 30-27 at Carolina Panthers December12/2: W 43-16vs. San Francisco 49ers 12/10 (Mon): W 21-7 vs. Minnesota Vikings 12/16: L 26-23 (OT) at San Francisco 49ers 12/23: vs. Kansas City Chiefs (5:20 PM PT, NBC)12/30: vs. Arizona Cardinals (1:25 PM PT, FOX)Bobby Wagner, KJ Wright could return vs Cowboys The Seattle Seahawks have opened this season in arguably their worst shape since Pete Carroll took over in 2010. McKissic, Kam Chancellor Womens Delano Hill Jersey , Tre Flowers, and Jamarco Jones have headlined those injuries, but at least a couple of them could return next week to face the Dallas Cowboys.Carroll said on Monday morning that Wagner and Wright could return for the next one, a huge boost to the defense, which played well but looked slower than usual in their loss to the Chicago Bears.“Hopeful” is not nearly as good as “Probable” but it is better than OUT, which is what Baldwin appears to be. Wagner is hurting from a groin injury, Wright had his knee scoped, and Baldwin is recovering from a partially torn MCL. Fluker and Flowers seemed to be gametime(ish) decisions this week, so there’s likely hope they could return as well. Not good is the new injury to center Justin Britt. A projected undrafted free agent, Tampa Bay felt they needed to needed to get into the sixth round to get him. For what it’s worth, Miller ran a 4.39 40 at his pro day. Here is an overview from NFL.com’s draft analyst Lance Zierlein on Miller:Slim, slot target with legitimate track speed and short area burst to separate over the top and underneath. Miller was lightly recruited out of high school but posted strong catch production for Bowling Green over the last three years. He’s tough, but durability will be a concern for NFL scouts considering how often he absorbs big contact. There are boxes he won’t check, but the speed/separation is one that gets an immediate check and that could help him find a roster spot as a three-level target and Day 3 selection. If anyone really looks forward to exhibition football games, this is the week to pay attention. One good place to start is in Oakland. Not because Aaron Rodgers will see plenty of action for Green Bay; he won't, might not play at all. And the Raiders' best player, Khalil Mack, still is holding out. Such is the approach for players and coaches in the preseason. But Rodgers gets to hang out 鈥?if not warm up with 鈥?an old friend and his former favorite target. The departure of receiver Jordy Nelson has left Rodgers in need of a new partner to take part in one of his pregame routines. In the end zone before a game, there would be Rodgers and Nelson playing catch and spinning footballs on their fingertips. That won't happen Friday night now that Nelson is a Raider, though they remain good friends."He said he has his own pregame routine now so we can't play catch before the game, so I'm a little disappointed by that," Rodgers quipped. "He's changed. ... He's a new guy."The competition between Brett Hundley and offseason acquisition DeShone Kizer to back up Rodgers will be a focal point for the Packers. Plus Chris Godwin Jersey , depth is starting to become an issue at running back because injuries have slowed Jamaal Williams, Aaron Jones and Devante Mays. Jones could play Friday as he comes back from a hamstring injury, though the Packers will be without him for the first two weeks of the season because of an NFL suspension. Ty Montgomery is the only healthy holdover from last year.On the other side, Raiders coach Jon Gruden calls his running backs the strength of his team even if the top guys haven't gotten to show much in the preseason. Marshawn Lynch had a 60-yard TD run called back by penalty on his only touch, and No. 2 back Doug Martin has one carry for 3 yards. Both could get a longer look when Gruden plans to play his starters into the second quarter."We're not going to play them a whole lot, but they will get some time," he said. "Hopefully they have some success."Undrafted rookie Chris Warren III has made the most of the time Lynch and Martin have spent on the sideline. Warren leads the NFL with 196 yards rushing this preseason.MVPS IN ACTIONThe third preseason game is usually when Bill Belichick uses his starters most. Last year, Tom Brady played about two quarters, then sat out the exhibition finale. Look for Brady, the 2017 league MVP, to be on the field at Carolina for perhaps the first half.Rob Gronkowski could see his first action of the year. The Patriots are also looking for help on the offensive line after losing tackle Isaiah Wynn, the No. 23 overall pick, in the last game. With Kenny Britt cut this week, the team will also be seeking depth at receiver, especially for the four weeks Julian Edelman serves his performance-enhancers suspension.2015 MVP Cam Newton and the Panthers' first-team offense will see their most extensive action of the preseason, playing into the third quarter. Newton has dramatically improved his accuracy this preseason under new offensive coordinator Norv Turner http://www.buccaneerslockerroom.com/authentic-gerald-mccoy-jersey , completing 71.4 percent as compared to a career completion percentage of 58.5 percent.Protecting Newton could be an issue as the Panthers will be without three starting offensive linemen due to injuries.O-LINE PROBLEMSMinnesota's task of improvement on offense begins with the line, where right tackle Rashod Hill and right guard Mike Remmers are expected to suit up against Seattle after sitting out the previous game with ankle injuries. Center Pat Elflein has been on the PUP list for the entire training camp, still rehabilitating from offseason ankle and shoulder surgeries. Left guard Nick Easton is out for the year with a neck injury."We're not the only ones in the league to be having these issues," Vikings coach Mike Zimmer said. "We just have a few more than we should have at this point in time. It's life."Seattle's recommitment to being a run-first team will get a stiff test. The Seahawks believe they've strayed from their successful formula as NFC champions in the 2013 and 2014 seasons, and re-establishing the run to control the game has been an offseason focus. While first-round pick Rashaad Penny won't play (finger), second-year running back Chris Carson is likely to see his most extensive playing time of the preseason. The Seahawks will also get long looks at second-year safeties Delano Hill and Tedric Thompson."ALL DAY" GETS A SHOTAdrian Peterson will make his preseason debut four days after signing with the Redskins.Coach Jay Gruden said Peterson's workload vs. the Broncos may depend on how much playing time the starting offensive line gets. Peterson will split carries with incumbent Rob Kelley, who emerged as the front-runner to start after rookie Derrius Guice tore the ACL in his left knee.Left tackle Trent Williams is still questionable as he comes off major knee surgery.Denver's defense played much better last week against Chicago than in the opener against the Vikings. Coach Vance Joseph said he wants his defensive identity to be "stopping the run" so the Broncos can turn loose the likes of Von Miller, rookie Bradley Chubb, Shaq Barrett and Shane Ray on the quarterback."Stopping the run and putting the offense in a one-dimensional phase, making them be a passing team so we can rush the passer. And, playing with a lead. That's important also for our defense. We do have great pass rushers, but if you don't have a lead, you won't ever see them come out," Joseph said.WHERE'S THE RUSHMatt Patricia was the defensive guru in New England, and now as head man in Detroit, his Lions have all of zero sacks this summer. He's not losing sleep over that as the Lions visit Tampa Bay."We're really not into stats here right now Womens John Lynch Jersey ," Patricia said. "We're into evaluation. That's the biggest thing, and that's the most important process for us right now. Stats aren't going to get us anything as far as the regular season is concerned."Tampa Bay's top priority this offseason was improving a pass rush that ranked last in the NFL with 22 sacks. In addition to signing ex-Eagles linemen Beau Allen and Vinny Curry in free agency, the Buccaneers traded for Jason Pierre-Paul. Through two preseason games, the team has three sacks.MEADOWLANDS MATCHUPAs the Jets try to determine if first-rounder Sam Darnold is already their top quarterback, he might get to throw to two veterans for the first time. Wide receivers Quincy Enunwa (thumb) and Terrelle Pryor (ankle) could also see their first preseason action.Darnold, who started last week at Washington, took the bulk of snaps with the first-team offense during practice. He had a solid debut as the third-stringer in the preseason opener against Atlanta and was inconsistent against the Redskins. Bowles said he expects the starters to play a minimum of two quarters, so Darnold could be out there a while.Meanwhile, Giants running back Saquon Barkley, taken one spot ahead of Darnold, returned to practice on a limited basis. It seems unlikely that Barkley (hamstring) will play against the Jets.It also doesn't appear star receiver Odell Beckham Jr. will make his preseason debut, despite being a full participant in practice. Beckham hasn't played since breaking his ankle last October, and he might not see the field until the regular season begins."We try to be smart with it," coach Pat Shurmur said. "He's gotten so much work behind the scenes, we'll just have to see how it plays out."
Jon Robinson adds one of the best guards in the league to play next to his three time Pro Bowl left tackle."WhiteFanposts Fanshots Sections Tennessee Titans PodcastWhat are the Titans getting in free agent G Rodger Saffold?New Womens Malcolm Butler Jersey ,149commentsJon Robinson adds one of the best guards in the league to play next to his three time Pro Bowl left tackle. CDTShareTweetShareShareWhat are the Titans getting in free agent G Rodger Saffold?Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY SportsThe Titans landed the top free agent guard on the market on Tuesday when it was announced that Rodger Saffold was signing a four year, $44M deal to join three time Pro Bowl tackle Taylor Lewan on the left side of Tennessee’s offensive line.Let’s hit on the note at the end of Rapoport’s tweet for a moment before we get into who Saffold is and why Titans fans should be extremely excited about this addition. Back in 2014, Saffold was set to leave the Rams and sign a lucrative contract in Oakland, but failed his physical with the Raiders and ultimately returned to the Rams for less money (this turned out to be a major stroke of luck for the Rams). The issue found had to do with Saffold’s shoulder and it turned out to be accurate as a season ending shoulder injury in 2015 sent the big guard under the knife to repair a torn labrum. Since that repair, Saffold has missed just one game due to injury over three years — a minor knee injury in 2016 — and his play has taken off to another level. Saffold was originally drafted by the Rams at the top of the second round in the 2010 NFL Draft after a successul college career at Indiana University. His transition to the NFL was bumpy, in part, due to playing on some really bad Rams teams. He also was moved around quite a bit, starting at left tackle early on before moving to the right side and then eventually inside to guard. Saffold was viewed as a solid, but unspectacular starter until Sean McVay arrived in LA and move the Rams to a zone based blocking scheme. That system fit Saffold’s athletic game like a glove. He got a Second-Team All-Pro nod in 2017 and was excellent again in 2018.He was arguably the best offensive lineman on an offensive line that ranked third and first in 2017 and 2018 in Football Outsiders’ Adjusted Line Yards. When you break those numbers down based on where the run went, you find that the Rams finished — comfortably — in two areas: off left tackle and middle/guard. Those just happen to be the areas patrolled by Saffold. The Rams also ranked third and sixth in Adjusted Sack Rate in those two seasons. Saffold has been credited with just four sacks allowed over the past two seasons per PFF charting.Saffold has always been an above average pass blocker ever since moving inside to guard. His quick feet and powerful frame at 6’-5” and 321 pounds allow him to mirror quicker players while still being able to anchor against power rushers. However, where Titans fans will really see a difference is in the running game. The jump from Quinton Spain to Rodger Saffold is going to be striking when it comes to the zone blocking scheme the Titans want to run (if you weren’t sure before, this signing confirms that ZBS will remain the staple in Tennessee under new offensive coordinator Arthur Smith).Let’s take a look at some examples. Very few NFL guards move like Saffold and he has an outstanding feel for technique in the outside zone. Here you can see him helping center John Sullivan get squared up on the 1-tech before climbing to the next level and completely removing linebacker Mychal Kendricks from the box. NFL Game PassHere’s another example of combination blocking as Saffold effectively helps both Whitworth and Sullivan on either side of him before climbing to cut off Jaylon Smith. Want to know how the Rams made C.J. Anderson look like Todd Gurley late last season? It was blocks like this from the league’s best run blocking line. NFL Game PassIn zone blocking systems, the guards are often uncovered and therefore asked to climb to the second level and block linebackers. That can be a tough ask when you look at the speedand agility of modern NFL linebackers, but Saffold makes it look easy. Here, he quickly gets to the second level, gets Leighton Vander Esch in his sights, and then locks on and takes him for a ride ten yards away from the play. NFL Game PassThis time he’s on the front side of the zone run and shows off his power as he literally bounces Smith out of the hole.NFL Game PassSaffold moves in space with rare grace. That’s on display here as he manages to pancake not one, but two Eagles on the toss play. NFL Game PassThose movement skills were a key part of the Rams prolific screen game the past two seasons. Here you can see him getting out in front and managing to pick off the Vikings safety 30 yards downfield to spring Gurley.NFL Game PassAs I mentioned above, the major difference between Saffold and Spain will be seen in the running game, but Saffold is a very competent pass protector as well. He does a good job of anchoring at the top of the pocket and not getting pushed back into the quarterback’s feet. Here, you can see his quickness and power at work against one of the league’s best pass rushers in Brandon Graham. NFL Game PassThe Titans got Saffold for $11M per year which slots him in as the sixth highest paid guard in the NFL behind Zack Martin, Andrew Norwell, Kevin Zeitler, Kelechi Osemele, and Trai Turner. Given the way the free agent market operates, I think that’s a surprisingly reasonable deal for a guy that ranks as a top ten guard and fits exactly what the Titans want to do. NFL Network analyst and former NFL offensive lineman, Brian Baldinger is a big fan of Saffold’s.So what does this mean for the Titans in 2019 and beyond? Well Womens Brian Orakpo Jersey , for starters, they now boast arguably the best left side of an offensive line in football with Lewan and Saffold. Those two will be blocking for a running back in Derrick Henry who loves to run left because it allows him to unleash his dominant right-handed stiff arm. This really seems like a match made in two-tone heaven. The Titans now figure to be in good to great shape at three offensive line positions with Taylor Lewan, Rodger Saffold, and either Jack Conklin or Dennis Kelly (I tend to believe that we see a bounce back year from Conklin in his second year removed from the ACL surgery) manning the left tackle, left guard, and right tackle spots. Ben Jones and Josh Kline are returning starters at center and right guard, but I think it’s pretty clear that those are still upgradeable spots. The Titans currently have some options on the roster for those two spots though as Corey Levin, Kevin Pamphile (who was re-signed yesterday), Aaron Stinnie, and Hroniss Grasu (another free agent addition earlier in the offseason) can all play either center or guard in addition to Jones and Kline. However, I would not be surprised if they still address this position early in the draft. With the money they have committed at left tackle and left guard (and potentially right tackle if they exercise Conklin’s fifth year option), they’ll need cheaper solutions at center and right guard beyond 2019. Jones is heading into the final year of his current contract and the team could move on from Kline easily in 2020 if they can find a long term replacement. A Garrett Bradbury or Chris Lindstrom could really lift this group over the top for the foreseeable future.Regardless of what happens at center and right guard, Saffold’s addition changes the ceiling for the Titans offense as he and Lewan will form a formidable and ridiculously athletic left side that should make Derrick Henry a very productive back in 2019. Lambert@TLambertTNDec 22, 2018,6:15pm CSTShareTweetShareShareRecap: Titans find a way, beat Redskins without Marcus Mariota, 25-16Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY SportsIt was an... uncomfortable night at Nissan Stadium. After trailing for most of the day and dealing with multiple injuries, the Titans found a way to win and keep their season alive. Here’s how it happened.Derrick Henry finds the endzone once againAfter a Redskins’ field goal to open the game, the Titans got the football and went right back to work on the ground. It was Derrick Henry doing the bulk of the work, with a couple of Marcus Mariota passes to Corey Davis and Taywan Taylor sprinkled in. Tennessee made it look easy as Henry stretched out to claim the Titans’ first lead of the day, 6-3. The extra point was missed by Ryan Succop.Redskins answer with 17 play touchdown driveWashington — behind the arms and legs of Josh Johnson — took control of this game in the second quarter. It was a near 11 minute drive, which featured Adrian Peterson ripping off chunk after chunk. Johnson finished off the drive by finding Michael Floyd for the score. Marcus Mariota exits with injuryThe Titans had a chance to answer before halftime following that drive and were making some headway. Marcus Mariota found a little bit of a groove, completing a couple of out routes to bring the Titans near the redzone. The Redskins ended that by dialing up a blitz, which got home and put Mariota on the ground. Mariota appeared to land on his elbow Womens Tajae Sharpe Jersey , the same elbow that has given him fits all year. He exited the game during the timeout and Blaine Gabbert came on in relief. Succop added the field goal to make it a 10-9 game at half. Mariota remained in the locker room with what the Titans called a stinger.Field goals for everyoneAfter trading possessions, Johnson put another drive together for the Redskins. He picked up a couple of third down conversions, then hit a big play over the middle to Jamison Crowder. The defense bent, but they didn’t break. Washington added a field goal to make it a 13-9 game. Gabbert delivered a nice throw down the seam to MyCole Pruitt, then (somehow) completed a strike to Darius Jennings that probably should have been picked off. Derrick Henry remained bottled up, but was able to find daylight for an 11 yard run on this drive. The Titans were suddenly moving, which was a step in the right direction. Gabbert couldn’t cap the drive with six, but Succop added three more to make it a 13-12 game.Washington came right back with more Adrian Peterson, who the Titans once again couldn’t stop. Josh Johnson kept making enough plays to keep the chains moving, until they hit the redzone. Their drive stalled again, but the Redskins made it a 16-12 lead with another field goal. The Titans were going to have to find the endzone to win this one — and they did.Gabbert completed a long pass play to start the drive to Taywan Taylor, who got behind a couple of defenders to get out to midfield. Blaine came back with a near miss on a 40 yard strike to Pruitt, who couldn’t make the catch. Derrick Henry finally got rolling on this drive, picking up five, then six yards. Henry then ripped off a long one to get down to the two yard line. Matt LaFleur dialed up play action from there, which Gabbert completed to Pruitt for the score. Just like that, the Titans led 19-16. Johnson makes his first mistakeJurrell Casey went down to start the drive and could be seen holding his knee. If the Titans were going to get a stop to win this, they were going to have to do it without Casey, who is still the Titans’ most important defensive player. To make matters worse, Rashaan Evans joined him on the sidelines. The Redskins kept hammering away with Peterson and attacking short over the middle with Crowder. They appeared to be ready to drive again, until Johnson made his first mistake. He overthrew Josh Doctson and Kevin Byard made him pay. Washington got one final chance, but Malcolm Butler housed a pick six to finish this one off. The Titans found a way tonight, eerily similar to the Jets game a few weeks back. Tennessee now needs help from Baltimore, who will play the Chargers tonight. Above all else, they have to find a way to beat Andrew Luck and the Colts next weekend at home. Of course, all eyes are now on the injury situations of Marcus Mariota and Jurrell Casey.

Another week, another loss - so seems to be the trend. While last week’s loss was mostly infuriating due to the late game heroics of Aaron Rodgers, this week’s loss can be aptly described, in my opinion, as tiring. Virtually everything that could go wrong went wrong, including poor play displayed by all three phases of the team, as well as further injuries. It became physically uncomfortable to watch the game, as the pummeling seemed to drag on and on, without mercy.Where to begin? Considering that the Rams thoroughly demolished the 49ers 2019 Dre Greenlaw Jersey , there’s really no good place to start. Jared Goff completed 75% of his passes, Todd Gurley scored three combined TDs, and Aaron Donald registered four sacks. The Rams special teams unit blocked a punt for a safety, and found success in the return game to give them advantageous field position - assuming that the 49ers even made it to fourth down without turning the dadgum ball over! The 49ers turned the ball over four times, which appears to be right around average for this squad throughout the season. Two fumbles, and two interceptions. When drives weren’t being killed by seven different sacks throughout the competition (ha!), they were being killed by handing the ball right over to opponent. Add in a failed fourth down conversion towards the end of the game, and it’s fairly apparent why this team was blown out in such an embarrassing fashion. Both Matt Breida and Adrian Colbert left the game with unspecified, but clearly lower leg injuries. These injuries should be updated later today. Maybe the only bright spot on the team was George Kittle, who had another productive game, which has been the story of his season. In fact, he was more or less the only productive member of the team, outside of kicker Robbie Gould. Kittle’s 98 receiving yards on Sunday put him over 500 for the season - which puts him on track for roughly 1200 yards assuming a 16 game campaign. However, the numbers certainly weren’t there for the Titans in year one. Tennessee ranked just 25th in total offense in 2018. To be fair, LaFleur dealt with several huge blows to the offense, including losing tight end Delanie Walker in week one. Marcus Mariota’s growth in the offense was stunted by a week one nerve injury that seemed to have lingering effects throughout the season. To make matters worse, Rishard Matthews quit the team in the first month of the season. LaFleur wasn’t exactly dealt a great hand in Nashville, but this is still a total leap of faith for the Packers. It’s a great deal for LaFleur though, who will now get to work with Aaron Rodgers. For the Titans, it’s going to be Marcus Mariota’s fourth offensive coordinator in five seasons. If you’re wondering why Mariota hasn’t developed into a big time NFL passer Quinton Spain Jersey , you can probably start with that fact. Let the offensive coordinator search begin. NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Anthony Firkser could be working in banking or finance, maybe even on Wall Street with the applied mathematics degree earned at Harvard.Luckily for the Titans, the converted wide receiver is playing tight end in Tennessee.“He just makes it easy for us to throw it to him,” Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota said of Firkser. “Whether that’s creating separation, using his body to make a couple tough catches. I think he’s done a great job in just being friendly for us as quarterbacks.”Firkser has caught every pass thrown to him, an unexpected but welcomed stat for the Titans (7-6). Tennessee lost three-time Pro Bowl tight end Delanie Walker in the season opener to a broken right ankle and a second starter when a knee injury forced Jonnu Smith to go on injured reserve. The Titans also have veteran Luke Stocker and MyCole Pruitt while adding tight end Cole Wick earlier this week. Firkser is the tight end in line for more work starting Sunday when they visit the New York Giants (5-8) thanks to his production already.“They’ve all gotten better and tried to find a little niche in our offense,” coach Mike Vrabel. “With that being said, MyCole is going to get more opportunity. Firkser is going to get more opportunity. What do I like about Firkser? I would say that when you throw the guy the ball, he usually catches it. Hopefully, he gets more opportunities to do that and work him into the run game.Firkser already ranked second on the Titans for most catches among tight ends this season Taylor Lewan Jersey , but he’s also one of only two tight ends in the NFL this season with at least 15 targets to catch every pass thrown at him. Firkser has 16 catches for 201 yards and a touchdown, and Ravens tight end Maxx Williams has caught all 15 passes thrown to him.“You can see the confidence building in him, so we’ve just got to continue to find ways to get him the football,” Mariota said. “I think he’s done a good job for us. He’s made a couple big plays in critical situations, and from there I think he’s got what it takes to help us out.”A native of Manalapan, New Jersey, the 6-foot-2, 246-pound Firkser signed with the Jets as an undrafted free agent in May 2017 only to be released at the end of the preseason. He sat at home for nearly three months until the Chiefs signed him to their practice squad at the end of November, and they signed him to a futures contract in January only to cut him April 30.Firkser came to Tennessee for a rookie tryout minicamp, and the Titans signed him May 14. He started the season on the active roster for two weeks before being cut, then was signed to the practice squad a day later. The Titans signed him back to the active roster Oct. 9 Brian Orakpo Jersey , and all his production has come in the last eight games.“We know Anthony’s strong suit is as a receiver, and he’s been working all year,” Titans tight ends coach Arthur Smith said. “He’s a very willing blocker. Same thing, we’ve got to make sure we put him in the right spots to play to his strengths.”He even caught his first career touchdown pass just before halftime to help start the Titans’ rally from a 16-point deficit in beating the New York Jets.Playing in the NFL may have been a dream when Firkser was a child. Playing in the Ivy League and competing in the Harvard classroom kept Firkser more focused on academics. Then he started hearing from NFL teams, keeping him away from the business world for now.“I’m thankful and grateful for the opportunity that I’ve gotten here and just doing my best to keep contributing,” Firkser said.Notes: OT Dennis Kelly, who is expected to replace Jack Conklin at right tackle, practiced Thursday after missing Wednesday for a personal matter. LB Brian Orakpo (elbow) missed a second straight practice, while WR Tajae Sharpe (ankle) did not practice after being limited Wednesday.

The first edition of 2019’s journey into the unpredictable world of predictive drafting."Mock drafts are fun. They show us what could be and what is. It’s an exercise in evaluating the state of a franchise while judging the future of abilities of student-athletes turned professional ball players to grant the wishes of fans world-wide.It’s also a fun little exercise in psychology. What is it that makes an individual respond so rabidly to what can only be categorized as a work of fiction in it’s truest form. Education levels have been insulted, future’s threatened, follower counts on social media rise and fall daily with the visceral reactions of (insert team name here) fans.Still. It’s fun. For me. I use them as a progress tool. See, right now, your favorite NFL team’s roster is almost exactly what it was at the end of the season as far as how it looks heading towards next season.Yes, there’s been the occasional trading of a quarterback or releasing of a cornerback here and there. But, except for those few facts, your roster is as it should be.As for the prospects. Well, this is a different story. Raise your hand if you heard of Nasir Adderley before the Senior Bowl. To those who raised their hands, you are the real MVPs of the draft world. Also, I hope you were in a really awkward place to suddenly raise your hand seemingly for no reason at all. Ya big weirdo.Anyway. Some of your favorite draft experts are likely on version five or six or even more by now. I’m on version one. And I waited for one specific reason. We’re about to enter the NFL Scouting Combine. After this, there will be little else a college player can do to publicly increase or decrease their draft stock. Pro Days are coming, and private workouts. Even some podcast, radio and television interviews. But for the most part, the combine and their game film will be the main tools used to measure their worth as a football player. So, before we get to it next week in Indianapolis Donovan Smith Jersey White , I wanted to put on record just how I perceive this first round going. Then, when it’s all said and done, and we’ve all packed up from Lucas Oil Stadium to head home I’ll do another to see how the combine impacted my outlook on the future. To be clear. This is a look at what I think each team ‘should’ do, followed by a brief synopsis of why. If you’ve visited as a member of a different fan base, I welcome you and I look forward to comments telling me about my lack of knowledge of your favorite team.If you’re a Bucs fan, well then, prepare to celebrate - or not - and tell me everything you think about my pick(s) and what it says about me as a husband, father and person in general. You know the drill.I’ll be surprised if any of you actually read all of those words leading to this part. So, let’s get to it.PICKS 1-4If the first four picks go the way I and many others feel it may, there’s going to be a quickly depleting pool of defenders going early. Here, Arizona gets a young lineman in Quinnen Williams who can roll in their renewed dedication to a 3-4 base defense and be equally as impactful for when they move him inside on four man fronts.San Francisco 49ers fans will probably feel like they got away with something seeing Nick Bosa fall into their laps while the Jets get one of the Top-2 edge rushers in this class by selecting Josh Allen. CBS broadcasters anxiously await the opportunity to comment on how Josh Allen sacked Josh Allen because Josh Allen was great while Josh Allen simultaneously didn’t execute his roll effectively. Fun for the entire family.Meanwhile, coach Jon Gruden gets his Khalil Mack replacement. Spoiler alert, Gary is good, but he’s not Mack.PICK 5 - TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS: LB, DEVIN WHITE (LSU)Photo by Christian Petersen/Getty ImagesCurrently, the Bucs have Lavonte David, Kendell Beckwith, Riley Bullough and a few other linebackers who have never really served a significant roll for this or any other NFL franchise. If the team is moving to a 3-4 base defense it’s not going to matter that they won’t be in base all the time. They need more linebackers. Having more than one they know can impact a game significantly would be nice.Hopefully Beckwith comes back from his season-costing ankle injury suffered last off-season. Hopefully Kwon Alexander comes back from his ACL and suits up for the Bucs once again. But it’s entirely possible neither of those things will happen. Which means Devin White is the right guy to pick for this situation. If Alexander and Beckwith both return, and return to form http://www.buccaneerslockerroom.com/authentic-ryan-smith-jersey , then Tampa Bay will have one of the most dangerous linebacker groups around.Which is good, seeing as how they want four starters at the position.PICKS 6-10I know quarterback is a popular position pick for the sixth spot, but I can’t agree with it. Not with this team and this class.Manning is getting one more trip around the sun to try and put it together, and he’s getting a nice offensive tackle to help in the mission. If it still doesn’t pan out, next year’s class is likely to be better or at least the same.Jacksonville on the other hand, has to get a quarterback this year, and Haskins is the most plug and play of the group as of right now.Detroit, Buffalo and Denver all get better in key areas as the Lions bolster their pass rush while the Bills’ Allen gets a nice target in D.K. Metcalf and Greedy Williams goes to Mile-High to reinvigorate a declining Broncos defense.PICKS 11-15I feel like the Bengals are going to look at quarterbacks more than most realize, but ultimately I think they go with offensive line help instead. Green Bay follows suit in order to take advantage of a relatively deep defensive class later in the draft. For Miami, Kyler Murray is about the most Dolphins thing they could do, and it should at least put some butts in seats while the team figures out what to do around him.Atlanta getting Ed Oliver will make nobody in the NFC South happy. But it’s just too good a fit not to happen. With Alex Smith done for a long time, the Redskins need a quarterback. Hard to imagine this team is going from Kirk Cousins’ ‘You like that!’ moment to Drew Lock in such a short time span. Yet, here we are.PICKS 16-20Carolina is far from perfect on offense, but they’re better there than on defense. They brought in Julius Peppers to help out, and he’s riding into the sunset. Jachai Polite will help them secure an edge presence for years. If the Cleveland Browns don’t continue to build around Baker Mayfield I’d be surprised. Marquise Brown won’t work out at the combine, but it doesn’t mean he won’t be ready for camp and the 2019 season. This offense will be electric.I was really tempted to give the Vikings a tight end here, but instead I think they roll forward with Rudolph and a later draft pick and bring in Garrett Bradbury in the meantime to give Cousins more time in the pocket.Brian Burns to the Titans was an easy pick, and Mike Vrabel is going to love having this Seminole on his team. Finally, the Steelers draft another cornerback. It feels like all they do is draft first-round cornerbacks these days.PICKS 21-25Legion of Boom 2.0 is underway with the drafting of Deionte Thompson by Seattle Womens Deone Bucannon Jersey , while the Baltimore Ravens tool up for Lamar Jackson’s first year as the full-time starter after shipping Joe Flacco to Denver. For the Houston Texans, keeping Deshaun Watson clean and comfortable has to be their primary objective. Even if they lose some key defensive pieces, they’ll have the remaining pieces to keep it together.Gruden gets the best running back in the draft for his new look Raiders and the Eagles bolster their defensive front by bringing Clemson’s Christian Wilkins to Philly.PICKS 26-32Rounding out the first round on this first mock of the year, Andrew Luck gets a nice big target to use opposite of T.Y. Hilton. Given the growth of the Colts’ defense in 2018, giving the offense another weapon makes sense.I don’t know if there are any cornerbacks in Oakland coach Gruden likes - let alone loves. He’ll look to bring his own caliber of secondary to the franchise by drafting DeAndre Baker with his third first-round pick of the year.Jeffery Simmons’ injury is going to drop him down some boards, and quite possibly out of the first round. However, if there’s a team who might take a first round flier on him, it’d be the Chargers. They have a solid defense as is, and depending on how they feel he is medically the future returns of such a dynamic player might just warrant the early investment.Kansas City needs help on defense and they need it now. Montez Sweat isn’t the most polished prospect, but what he does he does really well. After going offensive with their first pick of the draft, Green Bay addresses the defense by selecting Nasir Adderley out of Delaware. They’ll address pass rushers later. If the Los Angeles Rams are going to get back to the Super Bowl they’ll need more than just a linebacker, but Mack Wilson is the best player available and given all the money coming up in extensions for their defense it’ll be nice to have a solid contributor on a rookie deal. Finally, the Super Bowl champs are up, and with Rob Gronkowski retiring drafting T.J. Hockenson as his replacement will help keep Tom Brady on top of the league until who knows when. That’ll do it for my first mock of the year. I’ll be back soon with a complete Bucs draft and more versions of both as we continue to sift through the news, rumors, tape, measurables and immeasurables.*Mock draft constructed using The Draft Network’s ‘Mock Draft Machine’.
The conversation takes place throughout the week inside the Seattle Seahawks training facility. A group of four or five throwing out suggestions and discussing whether their idea can actually be executed.By the time Friday rolls around Shaquem Griffin Jersey , a final decision has been made and the group spends part of the day seeing if they can pull off the plan successfully if the opportunity presents itself on game day."They're actually a group effort. We all put our two cents in and come up with something," Seattle wide receiver David Moore said. "(We'll) come up with something, 'Hey we can throw this in, maybe this will look good,' and then there you go."The talk isn't about a play or scheme. Instead, it's about what has become a must-see event anytime the Seahawks wide receivers find the end zone. Their touchdown celebrations have drawn attention around the NFL and set a standard they're trying to top each week."At first, it was all just about having fun, right? ... It has become an expectation," wide receiver Doug Baldwin said. "Now everybody's asking us what's coming up next, but first and foremost we've got to score so let's take care of the football aspect of it first and then just have fun if it comes along."The group of receivers 鈥?Baldwin, Moore, Jaron Brown and Tyler Lockett primarily 鈥?may not come close to leading the league in catches because of Seattle's run-first offense. But when any of the four find the end zone, getting past the goal line is just the beginning. It started in London when the Seahawks beat Oakland and Brown caught a touchdown on Seattle's opening drive. Brown at first briefly celebrated by himself before being joined by Baldwin, Lockett and Moore with an ode to "Drumline" and a fight scene from the movie that was released in 2002.Two weeks later after Lockett caught a TD in Detroit, it was an ode to baseball , the World Series and Nolan Ryan when Baldwin, the hitter, charged Lockett, the pitcher, and was knocked out in the process.Against the Chargers, it was "The Four Heartbeats ," which was a tribute to the 1991 movie "The Five Heartbeats." Each wide receiver showed off a bit of his dance moves and Brown 鈥?who caught the touchdown 鈥?ended up getting the "featured" role at the end of the routine. It's the celebration most say was the best."I told them from the jump, 'Yeah that's not going to work.' Because you have to be on beat with that and you all aren't going to hear each other," running back Mike Davis said. "It actually looked good. I was surprised by that."And last week in the victory over the Packers, tight end Nick Vannett was added to the mix following Baldwin's TD catch. The celebration this time : "Swag Surfin'.""I don't think it went as well as we wanted it to," Baldwin said. There was supposed to be one more celebration thrown into the recent mix, but as Baldwin said, "Tyler screwed it up." After Lockett's 23-yard touchdown reception against the Los Angeles Rams on Nov. 11, there was supposed to be another group performance. But before everyone could gather, Lockett handed the ball to boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr., who was in an end zone suite. That celebration was supposed to be specific to the Rams game and was not carried over to the following week. It's another sign of how serious and how much fun this group is having. And no, it's not taking away from their preparation for what's important 鈥?the actual game 鈥?including this week's matchup against Carolina that has major NFC playoff implications."It's minutes Michael Dickson Jersey , but obviously you guys know when we focus in on something, we get focused in on something so it doesn't take us too long to get it down," Baldwin said. Back in a time where being a coach for the Seattle Seahawks under Pete Carroll used to mean something, Ken Norton, Jr. was hired away by Jack Del Rio to be the defensive coordinator for the Oakland Raiders in 2015. Norton had spent 11 years with Carroll, including the previous five for the Seahawks as linebackers coach under Gus Bradley and Dan Quinn, with back-to-back Super Bowl appearances. When Quinn left after Seattle’s second straight season of winning the conference, Carroll hired Kris Richard to take over as defensive coordinator, while Norton went to the Raiders. The two assistants saw their paths take different directions from that point forward, but now as things have come full circle, Norton suddenly looks to be “ahead” of his longtime colleague with USC and the Seahawks. But really isn’t just about timing and talent?Oakland went 3-13 and finished 32nd in points allowed in 2014, which is why they fired Dennis Allen (and replacement Tony Sparano), and hired Del Rio. That’s where Norton came in and he helped the Raiders improve to 22nd in points allowed, with 16 more sacks than they had the year before, and a notably better pass defense. All because of Norton, right?Probably a lot more to do with second-year linebacker Khalil Mack actually, who went from three sacks to 15. And as we’ve seen, Mack doesn’t need a certain coach in order to be productive. Not that the Raiders had a super talented defense (Charles Woodson, Aldon Smith, Malcolm Smith, David Amerson, Dan Williams, Mario Edwards), but they also weren’t super good. They were just a little better. Then they weren’t.Then in September of 2016, Del Rio reportedly took playcalling away from Norton following a terrible start to the season by the defense; they gave up over 1,000 yards over the first two games. They stopped giving up 500 yards per game, but the Oakland defense was still among the worst in the NFL, even after adding Bruce Irvin and Reggie Nelson, probably because many other starters were still very bad. The Raiders finished dead last in net yards per pass attempt allowed. They did go 12-4, but lost badly in the first round of the playoffs. Maybe it’s a different story if not for Derek Carr’s broken leg, but the defense still stood no shot of helping them through that gauntlet. After a 4-6 start last season, Oakland fired Norton Alex McGough Jersey , severing ties completely. They had forced just five turnovers in 10 games. He hit the open market as a coach who wasn’t good enough to even improve the Oakland Raiders defense. Not a good place to be in.Luckily enough, Carroll didn’t care about any of his Oakland issues. He knew Norton for over a decade and he knew that he had the talent for a good defense. Isn’t that really the majority of what you need?Richard had the Seahawks back at their number one ranking for scoring defense in 2015, getting through a bad wild card game in Minnesota before losing on the road to the Carolina Panthers; they gave up 31 first half points to the Panthers but a significant problem that day was incompetence by the offense and then Seattle shut Carolina down in the second half. The Seahawks were third in points allowed in 2016, including first in yards per carry allowed. Quarterbacks had a rating of just 85 against Seattle, with only 16 touchdown passes. The Seahawks held the Detroit Lions to six in a wild card win, but again lost badly on the road in the divisional round.Things finally took a downward turn in 2017, with Seattle finishing 13th in points allowed and surrendering 30+ five times. However, there was a significant change that year: No Cliff Avril for 12 games, no Richard Sherman or Kam Chancellor for seven, Earl Thomas missed two games and was recovering from a broken leg, K.J. Wright was out for the defense’s worst game in years. It was a lack of talent.Carroll decided to shake things up — this is more the cause for Richard’s firing than anything, I believe — and found his old friend on the coaching free agent market. Now where are the Seahawks, Richard, and Norton?Well, somewhat quietly Norton has certainly raised his stock, hasn’t he? Seattle is ninth in points allowed, seventh in yards allowed, fourth in net yards per pass attempt allowed, and has a top-10 ranking in DVOA again. What’s the difference between the 2018 Seahawks and all of his Raiders defenses that weren’t as good? Well, Oakland had Mack, and Seattle has had an actual defense. That obviously changes now with the injury to Thomas. And if the Seahawks’ pass defense gets worse week-to-week, we’ll know why. If Norton’s resume goes from “coached a top-10 defense” to “helped sink a top-10 defense,” it’ll be because he didn’t have as much talent to end the year as he did to start it. Norton may be a great coach — whatever that even means — but coaches are only as good as the talent that they can put on the field. Bill Belichick is famous for overturning players-not-named-Brady all the time, but less talked about is the decade he’s spent with Devin McCourty and Patrick Chung as his safeties. If the players work, they work. If they don’t, you’re out of a job.Richard is drawing praise for his work with the Dallas Cowboys secondary as an assistant there now, including the Pro Bowl-caliber season for Byron Jones at cornerback. Certainly Richard’s knowledge has something to do with that, but it would be for nothing if Jones wasn’t one an extremely special athlete with the capacity to play at this level. And eventually, Richard will get another chance as a defensive coordinator too, perhaps leading to a head coaching opportunity. His best way back there will be to continue to follow the talent.

A roundtable with instant reactions"You’re going to hear plenty of analysis about the San Francisco 49ers first-round selection Nick Bosa over the coming days. How about some instant reactions from the NN staff? Here’s our take on the newest 49er.KyleThe 49ers had a big need at edge rusher. It’s tough to find a better fit than Bosa. He’s the best pass rusher in the draft http://www.49erslockerroom.com/authentic-ahkello-witherspoon-jersey , and it’s not really close. The Niners struggled mightily to get after the QB. That is Bosa’s speciality. He should be able to come in and produce right away. I think it’s important to understand that Bosa makes everyone around him better. Deforest Buckner is better because of this. Dee Ford is bette because of this. Solomon Thomas gets better. That’s before we even get to the secondary.PatBack in December, I said the 49ers had a shot at this guy given the Cardinals needs. When healthy, Bosa has the potential to transform this defensive line. We are talking about one of the best lines in football in one or two year. The big x-factor is Solomon Thomas. If he can take his next step, you have Dee Ford, DeForest Buckner, Thomas, and Bosa running a pass rush? Yikes. The decision was easy, but Quinnen Williams was very very tempting. The secondary can benefit from this as well. A quicker pass rush means more erratic throws, which means interceptions and dangerous passes. Part of the 49ers issues last year was the lethargic pass rush, which again has been vetted with Nick Bosa. The health issues do concern me, but hopefully the 49ers new and improved strength and conditioning unit has vetted this extensively. When healthy, the ceiling of this defensive line is nothing short of jaw-dropping. It’s a good day to be a 49ers fan. RobNick Bosa was the easiest pick John Lynch has made in his three years as the 49ers’ general manager. Bosa is the most complete pass rusher in the draft and the need aligned perfectly with the value for San Francisco. If his injury concerns are behind him, the 49ers should’ve just drafted a blue-chip pass rusher with yearly Pro Bowl potential.FoochIt’s pretty clear how I feel about his personal beliefs. From a purely football perspective Mike Person Jersey White , however, there’s not a lot to dislike about Bosa. He’s the kind of edge rusher the 49ers have lacked since they released Aldon Smith. There is no sure thing in the draft, but he has the production, pedigree, and physical tools to be the next great Niner pass rusher. If he does not pan out, nobody will fault the 49ers for the football side of this decision (well, almost nobody). The core muscle injury that cut short his final season at Ohio State left some folks concerned, but once the injury happened, it made all the sense in the world for him to shut it down and focus on the NFL Draft. Injuries are a concern for anybody in the NFL, but it doesn’t bother me.Alex EisenNick Bosa has been at the very top of most draft boards including mine. For the longest time the San Francisco 49ers have been searching for help in the pass rushing department. In a pass friendly league you have to be able to create pressure and get to the quarterback. The 49ers did what they had to do this off season, first trading for Dee Ford, then selecting Nick Bosa with the second overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. As I mentioned in previous mock drafts and scouting reports, Nick Bosa was a no brainer pick for the 49ers. He is a perfect scheme fit Womens Y.A. Tittle Jersey , and a week one starter. I am excited to see what the 49ers defensive line will produce with the likes of Bosa, Dee Ford, DeForest Buckner, and Arik Armstead. Bosa instantly improves the defense, not only along the defensive line, but in the secondary as well. The injuries are a bit concerning, however the talent and production more than make up for this. Injuries are unpredictable and are part of the game. They can happen to anyone at anytime. Let’s hope for a healthy season for our ENTIRE roster! The 49ers get an A+ with this selection. Josh EcclesSan Francisco, as we all know, have lacked a serious threat at pass rusher for about 5 seasons now. With the selection of Nick Bosa it just about shores up the defensive line - which now boasts newly-acquired free agent Dee Ford along with Arik Armstead, Solomon Thomas, and perennial DPOY-candidate Deforest Buckner. The 49ers entered the offseason with zero firepower at EDGE and now have 2 clear-cut get-to-the-quarterback-at-will players who will, with their skillset, make the rest of the defense look better.Matt Breida ankle MRI comes back negative Fooch’s update: Kyle Shanahan announced that Breida is doubtful for Week 6 vs. the Green Bay Packers. The San Francisco 49ers dodged a bullet in Week 5. Running back Matt Breida suffered an ankle injury that looked bad Mike McGlinchey Jersey White , but fortunately is not a long-term injury. X-rays came back negative on Sunday, and an MRI came back negative on Monday, according to NBC Sports Bay Area reporter Matt Maiocco.Breida suffered the injury when Budda Baker fell on his ankle during a tackle attempt. The running back seemed to be in a lot of pain and needed help limping off the field. The trainers put tape on his ankle but he went back to the locker room and did not return. NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport reported on Sunday that it was not a serious ankle injury, and Breida seemed to think the same. The x-ray revealed no break, and the MRI revealed no significant ligament damage. A high ankle sprain involves ligament damage and can result in an absence of several weeks. Not having that damage could result in a relatively limited absence. As Maiocco said in his tweet, he has proven to be a quick healer amidst several injuries the past few weeks. The 49ers travel to face the Green Bay Packers on Monday Night Football in Week 6, so they have an extra day of rest for the players. My guess is Breida sits out the game, but like Maiocco said, he’s proven to be a quick healer. The 49ers return to practice Thursday, so we’ll see what the injury report brings.
